Disaster Medical Response Team 

Established in 1992, is comprised of professional and para-professional medical personnel, supported by a cadre of logistical and administrative staff, designed to provide medical care during disasters and other large-scale events.  The Jamaica Hospital Medical Center Disaster Medical Response Team (DMRT) deployments include:

• 1992 – Homestead, Florida – Hurricane Andrew
• 1996 – JFK Airport, NYC – TWA Flight 800
• 1998 – JFK Airport, NYC – SwissAir Flight 111
• 1998 – Watertown/Cape Vincent, NY – Ice Storms
• 1999 – JFK Airport, NYC – EgyptAir Flight 990
• 2001 – NYC – World Trade Center
• 2001 – JFK Airport, NYC – American Airlines 587
• 2005 – Biloxi, Mississippi and Southern Louisiana – Hurricanes Katrina & Rita
• 2012 – Rockaway and Howard Beach, NY – Superstorm Sandy
• 2017 – Puerto Rico – Hurricane Maria
• 2020 – Puerto Rico – Earthquakes
• 2022 – Southwest Florida – Hurricane Ian
