To help facilitate the JHMC Emergency Department & Critical Care units expansion project effective May 3, 2024 the Department of Transportation will be implementing the following temporary construction related traffic flow changes and increased parking restrictions around the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center campus.
Specific traffic rerouting details are below.
89th Avenue
- Traffic between Van Wyck Service Road and 135th Street will be converted from two-way traffic to one-way traffic (Westbound) going towards the parking garage entrance.
- Will remain two-way traffic (East/Westbound) from 135th Street to 134th Street.
- Portions of the parking along this zone will become “No Stopping Anytime” to promote the ongoing flow of traffic.
- Traffic between Van Wyck Service Road and 135th Street will be converted from one-way traffic to two-way traffic (East/Westbound).
- Will remain one-way traffic (East/Westbound) from 135th Street to 134th Street.
- Portions of the parking along this Northbound side (Adjacent to D-Bldg.) will become “No Stopping Anytime”.
- Traffic will convert from two-way traffic (North/Southbound) to one-way traffic (Southbound) between 89th Avenue and 91st Avenue.
- Parking adjacent to the A/B building (currently MD parking only) zone will be converted to “No Parking Except Ambulance.”
